Bushy Park in Wanganui, NZ offers the visitor a unique experience. Our 240 acres of virgin lowland rain forest is crossed by a network of forest paths allowing you to stroll in peace before returning to the elegant homestead where you can enjoy al fresco dining on the verandah or a cafe treat in our dining room.
Bushy Park Homestead is a Category One Heritage Building registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and has been preserved very much in it's original state. The Homestead and stables were built over one hundred years ago and have been beautifully maintained ever since. You will live as the guests of the past did, with spacious bedrooms, and breakfast in the breakfast room or out on the sunny verandah. There is a drawing room to relax in and wireless internet is available at no cost.
Accommodation available in the Homestead, along with a self-contained bunkhouse providing backpacker accommodation. Day visitors are welcome to stroll through the forest tracks. Fully licensed cafe open 7 days, with evening meals by prior arrangement. Home to many endangered birds such as North Island Robin, Kereru or Woodpigeon, Saddleback, Tui, Bellbird, Falcon and Morepork. A great venue for weddings, birthday celebrations etc.
Bushy Park is only 10 minutes from State Highway Three and 20 minutes from Wanganui.
This ease of access makes it available to all.
